Beta terms
Note helper terms of use
Version 1.0, effective 2 November 2026. Operated by shiftiswild.com ("we").
Plain version first
Note helper is a free beta writing aid. You review and own every note. Do not type patient identifiers. Check your employer's rules on AI tools. The full terms are below. If they change, we ask you to agree again.
1. Agreement
By checking the box and using Note helper ("the tool"), you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the tool. We may update the Terms; we will show the new version and ask you to agree again before you keep using the tool.
2. Who may use it
US licensed nurses and nursing students, 18 or older, for their own documentation drafts.
3. What the tool is
A writing aid. It rewrites the text you enter into a draft nursing note in plain text. It does not see your patient, your chart or your orders. It does not give medical, nursing, legal or compliance advice and does not diagnose, recommend treatment or tell you what care to give. It is not a medical device and is not a medical record.
4. You own the note
The draft may be wrong, incomplete or worded in a way that does not fit your patient, your facility or your state. You must read every line, correct it, fill or delete every blank, and remove anything that did not happen before you put any part of it in a medical record. You alone are responsible for what you enter into any medical record and for meeting your facility's documentation policies and your state's nursing standards.
5. Honest charting only
Do not use the tool to document care, assessments, events, times or notifications that did not happen, to back-date entries, or to alter a record after the fact. Late entries must be labeled as late entries according to your facility's policy. We may block use that looks like this.
6. Your employer's rules
Many employers restrict or forbid AI tools, even without patient identifiers. You are responsible for checking and following your employer's policies before using the tool for work. We do not represent that the tool is approved by any employer.
7. No patient information
Do not enter any information that identifies a patient or could reasonably be used to identify one, including names, initials, room or bed numbers, medical record numbers, dates of birth, exact dates, ages over 89, phone numbers, addresses, photos, or rare details. Our filter is a safety net, not a guarantee, and it does not move responsibility to us. If you enter patient information, that is your disclosure under your employer's rules. If it happens, contact us at [email protected] with the subject "POSSIBLE PHI".
8. Not a HIPAA service
We are not a HIPAA covered entity, we are not your employer's business associate, and we do not sign business associate agreements. Do not use the tool for any purpose that requires one.
9. Your data
We do not save the text you enter or the drafts we return. To produce a draft, your text is sent to our AI provider (OpenAI), which under its own policy may keep it for up to 30 days for abuse monitoring and does not use it for training. Your entries and draft are kept only in your browser on your own device, until you clear them or 16 hours pass. We keep only anonymous usage counts: drafts per day, their cost, and a salted hash of a random number your browser makes, which we cannot link to you. Your agreement to these Terms (version and date) is saved on your device. See the Privacy notice.
10. Educational content
Tips and explanations shown with drafts are general education about documentation, with sources where given. They are not rules of your facility or your state board.
11. Acceptable use
No unlawful use, no attempts to break, overload or reverse-engineer the tool, no automated access, no use to build a competing model.
12. No warranty
The tool is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, including accuracy, completeness, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement, to the extent the law allows. It may be unavailable or changed or stopped at any time.
13. Limit of liability
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any result of what you put in a medical record. Our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the greater of what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim or US $100. Some states do not allow some of these limits; then they apply only as far as allowed.
14. Indemnity
If someone makes a claim against us because you broke these Terms (for example, you entered patient information, documented care not given, or used the tool against your employer's rules), you agree to cover our reasonable costs of that claim, to the extent the law allows.
15. Disputes
Before any claim, contact us at [email protected] and give us 30 days to try to fix it.
16. General
If one part is unenforceable, the rest stays. These Terms plus the Privacy notice are the whole agreement. We may assign these Terms to a successor.
